Olympia Odos is incorporating hydrogen-powered transportation into its sustainable mobility initiatives by taking delivery of one of the first two Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) registered in the country. Notably, this is the only vehicle of its kind operating on a Greek motorway.

Refueling of the Toyota MIRAI, which has already been integrated into the motorway operations, takes place at the AVIN hydrogen station in Agii Theodori, Corinth. This development marks a new chapter for hydrogen-powered transportation and the gradual integration of new technologies into mobility.

This initiative is part of Olympia Odos' participation as a partner in the European TRIERES project – Greek Hydrogen Valley, under which the first integrated hydrogen ecosystem in Greece is being developed in the Agii Theodori area near the Motor Oil refinery facilities.

 The project involves the construction of an electrolyzer for hydrogen production and its subsequent use in the industry, transportation, shipping, and energy sectors. Olympia Odos is an active participant in the Trieres project, conducting research on the expansion of the "Hydrogen Valley," the forecasting of future hydrogen demand, and the distribution of hydrogen to end users via the road axis.

Olympia Odos' involvement in the innovative "Hydrogen Valley" project, and its collaboration with MOTOR OIL, signifies a strategic decision and a significant advancement in the direction of "clean" mobility. Olympia Odos is proud to have taken delivery of the first hydrogen-powered car to operate on a Greek Motorway. This is another example of the company's ongoing commitment to investing in solutions that reduce its environmental footprint and upgrade road infrastructure.

This initiative is part of Olympia Odos' broader roadmap toward a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030 and joins a series of actions aimed at enhancing sustainability and improving the quality of infrastructure. 

The TRIERES project, "European Hydrogen Valleys 2024," is being implemented by a consortium of 26 partners from five countries, coordinated by Motor Oil.
