Olympia Odos welcomed today the Minister of Infrastructure & Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Nikos Tachiaos, and senior officials at the Rio Operations Center. The Chairman & CEO, Mr. Panayiotis Papanikolas, briefed the political leadership on the progress of construction works on the Patras-Pyrgos highway, in the presence of representatives from the responsible construction companies (AVAX, AKTOR, TERNA).
The overall progress of the project has exceeded 50%, and already the first 24 km (29% of the new highway) have been paved with asphalt in the areas of Amaliada, Pyrgos, Kato Achaia, and Mintilogli.
During the briefing, a new progress video was presented, showcasing construction across the three zones developed from Mintilogli to Pyrgos.
Currently, 1,000 people are working on the Patras-Pyrgos highway construction, with indirect employment estimated at an additional ~2,000 jobs throughout the project's duration.
Technical Characteristics:
Panayiotis Papanikolas, Chairman and CEO of Olympia Odos, stated:
“We are all dedicated to one goal: To deliver the new Patras-Pyrgos highway as soon as possible.
Currently, 1,000 people are working on the construction of Patras-Pyrgos, while indirect employment is estimated at an additional ~2,000 jobs. These people have achieved the progress percentage presented by the minister.
Already, 30% of the road has its final asphalt layer — where a few months ago there were just fields, we now see black asphalt.
We overcome daily construction challenges, providing solutions with logic, prudence, and unity.
We’ve rolled up our sleeves, and we’re moving forward.”
