“Road Safety Pit Stop” A common awareness raising action on safe trips by RSI Panos Mylonas and Olympia Odos

On Friday, June 14, the Road Safety Institute (RSI) "Panos Mylonas" in cooperation with Olympia Odos, encourage all drivers to make a "safety stop" at the Pit Stop of RSI "Panos Mylonas" for a short check of their vehicle, at the Megara Motorists Service Station (MSS) (in the direction to Patras), from 15:00 to 20:00. As part of the joint action "Road Safety Pit Stop", drivers will have the opportunity to have a free five-minute safety check with the assistance of the Institute's partners.

The initiative aims to awaken and inform drivers about the key vehicle checkpoints and the importance of prevention, particularly during the summer season when road trips are more frequent.

In particular, drivers will be able to carry out basic checks on their windscreen wipers and fuel, as well as being informed about available refueling points. Moreover, the following will also be checked: lights, turn signals, tires (condition and wear and tear), validity of the Technical Control card, and passenger space (for any free moving objects). At the end of each check, the driver will be given a "Friendly Control Card" with the results and any observations.

This card will enable the driver to take part in a draw by lot for:

• 5 OLYMPIA PASS transponders, topped-up with €70;
• 10 €50 AVIN prepaid cards;
• 10 e-learning courses on Road Safety through the RIS www.roadsafetyacademy.eu platform, for €70/course;
• 3 TotalEnergies backpacks of €70/piece.

At the same time, drivers will have the opportunity to enjoy an additional free coffee with their coffee, courtesy of Flocafe.

Participants will understand in a direct and experiential way the necessity of all passengers using a seat belt, by trying out the RSI's crash simulator that will be on site. In addition, there will be a special information station where information will be provided by qualified personnel on the correct and safe use of child seats.

On Friday we ALL make a Stop for our Safety, a "Stop for Life", because “In real life there is no Undo”!

The guests to talk about Road Safety were: Mrs. Sophia Stamou (Communication Manager of Olympia Odos) on the safe trips on motorways, Mr. Panagiotis Giogiakas (Health Safety and Quality Control Manager of AVIN) on the preventive car and Mr. George Refenes (representative of BeSafe) on the correct use of child seats.
