“In real life there is no Undo”: Olympia Odos and the "Panos Mylonas" Road Safety Institute are investing in road safety for young people.

  • A new series of experiential training sessions in schools in Attica and Korinthia.
  • Educational activities at five schools and at the "Yiannis Spanos" Cultural Center in Kiato.
  • In the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas.

In an effort to promote responsible driving behavior from an early age, Olympia Odos, in collaboration with the "Panos Mylonas" Road Safety Institute, has initiated a new series of fall training sessions in Attica and Korinthia, continuing the traffic education program “In real life there is no Undo”. The sessions were held at middle and high schools in Megara, Loutraki, and Kiato, concluding at the "Yannis Spanos" Cultural Center in Kiato.

Through an experiential approach, students gain a practical understanding of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and realize how easily a wrong decision can have irreversible consequences. Employing specialized goggles that simulate the effects of drunk driving, they gain insight into how their perception and reaction time are affected. Additionally, special simulators help them experience the conditions of a car crash and rollover.

The “In real life there is no Undo” program, launched in 2019, is an ongoing initiative aimed at informing and raising awareness among young people about road safety. To date, the program has reached more than 20,000 students and teachers from approximately 163 schools in Ilia, Achaia, and Korinthia. This new series of events is part of an ongoing initiative that conveys a critical message: on the road, our decisions have consequences, and human life does not provide a second opportunity to rectify errors.

The event, which was held at the "Yannis Spanos" Cultural Center in Kiato, was attended by the following individuals: the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas; the Vice-Governor of the R.U. of Korinthia, Mr. Anastassios Giolis; the Commander of the Korinthia PATHE Motorways Traffic Police, Ms. Maria Vossou; the Chief of the Sikyona Police Department, Mr. Andreas Georgaris; the Chairman and CEO of Olympia Odos, Mr. Christos Karadimas; and the President of the "Panos Mylonas” RSI, Ms. Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas, emphasized the following:

Today in Kiato, a socially beneficial awareness-raising initiative took place, aimed at highlighting the importance of prevention and fostering road safety awareness in our daily lives.

Road safety is an issue of universal concern. Whenever we are on the road, our behavior and choices as drivers or pedestrians have a direct impact on our own safety and that of the people around us.

At the same time, the State bears an ongoing responsibility to ensure the safety of road users. Ensuring such safety necessitates secure infrastructure, clearly defined rules, effective controls, and, most importantly, a comprehensive approach that prioritizes prevention.

As the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, we are committed to enhancing road safety through a series of initiatives across Greece.

Concurrently, we are methodically investing in public awareness and prevention. From 2023 through the first half of 2026, a total of 6,284 informational presentations were held at schools, universities, and organizations, and 207 awareness-raising initiatives were carried out. The related digital content garnered over 23 million views. The wide range of these initiatives reflects the importance we place on road safety.

This is a systematic effort that has already begun to yield measurable results as of 2025. According to European Commission data, Greece recorded a 22% decrease in traffic fatalities in 2025 compared to 2024, marking the second-largest decrease in the European Union.

However, this should not lead to complacency. We are committed to redoubling our efforts with renewed intensity and perseverance to achieve a further reduction in the number of road traffic accident victims.

In this endeavor, we are companions. Initiatives such as this two-day conference are not merely symbolic; they are essential tools for shaping attitudes and strengthening our joint effort toward safer roads and, above all, the protection of human life.

The Vice Governor of the R.U. of Korinthia, Mr. Anastassios Giolis, underlined that:

Today, we talked about road safety. The objective was for the students to understand the value of safety through hands-on experience with simulators. Greece is currently experiencing substantial daily developments, with infrastructure projects currently underway in the prefecture of Korinthia and throughout the country. The primary objective of these road safety workshops, such as today's event in Kiato, is to reduce the number of fatal traffic accidents.

Mr. Christos Karadimas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Olympia Odos made the following statement: "Olympia Odos, our motorway, facilitates efficient, comfortable, and above all secure travel. On the Korinthos–Patras section, there has been an 83% decrease in accidents, while on the Patras–Pyrgos section, there has not been a single fatal traffic accident in a year of operation. At our company, we believe that road safety begins long before starting the car. Our mindset, habits, and perception of our responsibility toward ourselves and others are fundamental to this process. That is why we systematically invest in informing and educating young people."

Mrs. Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona, President of the "Panos Mylonas" Road Safety Institute, has underlined that: "Promoting road safety awareness begins at a young age, when the attitudes and behaviors of tomorrow's drivers are formed. At the "Panos Mylonas" Road Safety Institute, we have made consistent investments in education and prevention, with a particular emphasis on experiential learning. This helps young people understand the risks and the responsibility that comes with their choices. Our ongoing and impactful collaboration with Olympia Odos underscores this commitment, exemplifying the significance of long-term partnerships founded on a common social vision. Responsible behavior on the road is shaped long before someone gets behind the wheel."

The Commander of the Korinthia PATHE Motorways Traffic Police, Ms. Maria Vossou stated that: We are currently attending the two-day road safety event, which is being organized for the second consecutive year by the Sikyona Traffic Police Department. This initiative aims to inform and raise awareness among citizens, especially children, as road safety education from an early age is crucial and instills responsible driving habits, with the ultimate goal of preventing road accidents.
