As winter begins, Olympia Odos has already activated its winter operations plan. The operational bases exist in 5 locations all along the motorway are in full swing, ready to face the significant challenges of winter.
Keeping the highway accessible and safe
During winter, in cooperation with the competent authorities (Civil Protection, Traffic Police, Fire Brigade) ensuring uninterrupted highway access is the top priority. To act proactively, before snowfall affects road accessibility, Olympia Odos monitors continuously the weather conditions and anticipates changes. At first snowfall, Olympia Odos takes action to keep traffic flowing.
Winter also requires additional safety mobilization from Olympia Odos. In cold weather, engine failures are more frequent, car fluids can freeze, and car tires become less adapted to driving. To assist drivers in need, our teams are prepared to intervene quickly.
Extensive mobilization
Winter preparation doesn’t begin with the first snowfall. Olympia Odos has been operationally mobilizing for several weeks. The team of operators has undergone annual training and the winter fleet, which includes snowploughs and salt spreaders, is fully equipped for the season. In addition to these preparations, Olympia Odos has also launched a winter driving tips campaign for drivers.
