Olympia Odos received two awards at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022

• GOLD award for the program Water from the air
• SILVER award for the first “Green” MSSs in Greece

Olympia Odos received two important distinctions at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022 that promote the values of Sustainable Business and award companies investing in Sustainable Environmental and Social Development. In particular Olympia Odos received:

• the GOLD Award in the category “Natural Resources Management” for its innovative program “Water from the air” which offers to the users of the Motorway free, fresh drinking water produced by the air humidity.
• SiLVER Award in the category “Green Buildings/Built Environment” for Psathopyrgos and Velo MSSs, the first “green” Motorists Service Stations in Greece,

Olympia Odos is constantly developing and operates over and beyond its contractual obligations aiming to reduce the energy footprint of the motorway, having attuned its environmental policy for the climate and circular economy to that of the project’s shareholders (VINCI Concessions, Hochtief PPP Solutions, AVAX, TERNA, and AKTOR).

To that purpose, Olympia Odos moves forward with VINCI Highway’s sustainable commitments and implementing various actions and programs such as the LED lighting, which reduces the consumption of power and upgrades the lighting of the tunnels, and the supply of electric power exclusively produced by 100% Renewable Energy Sources meeting the total of the energy needs of the motorway.

At the same time, recently a pilot application of light-colored pavement coating in Theseus Tunnel at Kakia Skala has been implemented aiming at reducing the power consumption without the need of pavement replacement, both resulting in the decrease of carbon emissions.

The awarding ceremony of the Responsible Business Awards took place at the Cultural Center “Hellenic Cosmos” during a glamorous night under the auspices of the Ministry of Development and Investments, the Ministry for the Environment and Energy, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and a large institutional and honorary support. Mrs. Maria Antoniou, Assistant Communication Manager, and Mr. Alexandros Archontidis, Commercial Manager received the Awards on behalf of the company.
