Olympia Odos was distinguished at the IRF 2025 (International Road Federation) awards, winning the award in the category "Decarbonization and Circular Economy" for its solar energy program, which aims to achieve a zero-carbon footprint by 2030. This represents the most ambitious solar park project to date on a Greek motorway. The award ceremony coincided with the official launching of the program by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Kiato Interchange.
The program encompasses 19 solar parks, strategically installed on the roofs of toll plazas, maintenance buildings, parking lots, and underutilized spaces in the regions of Achaia, Korinthia, and Western Attica. The project's total capacity reaches 10 MWp, which will meet 100% of the infrastructure's energy needs, including road lighting, dynamic signaling, and tunnel ventilation systems. The annual reduction is approximately 5,000 tons of CO₂.
The international recognition by the IRF rewards the integrated design, innovation and replicability of the Olympia Odos carbon footprint reduction program, which combines energy efficiency, green production and smart technologies.
At the same time, it emphasizes Olympia Odos's strategic consistency in supporting the objectives of the National Climate Law to achieve zero emissions by 2030 — 20 years earlier than the European target for climate neutrality.
The award was received by the company's Commercial Director, Alexandros Archondidis, who highlighted Olympia Odos' commitment to operating a sustainable, environmentally responsible and socially beneficial infrastructure.
