Patras Bypass opened to traffic again following the devastating wild fire

Olympia Odos expresses its deepest sympathy and solidarity with all those affected by the devastating fire: residents, professionals, and workers in the area.

The Patras Bypass, which was also at the epicenter of the fire, suffered extensive damage.

Over the past 48 hours, tremendous efforts have been made to minimize the consequences and reopen the road as soon as possible. The complete restoration of all damage is expected to be completed in the very near future.

Today, Thursday, August 14, 2025, the road will safely reopen to traffic at 18:00 p.m., with traffic arrangements in place due to the repairs of the damaged equipment.

1. Traffic arrangements for road safety reasons:

1. Traffic is restricted to one traffic lane in each direction on the section from k.p. 206+100 to k.p.  211+700.
2. A speed limit of 60 km/h has been imposed.
3. There is an increased police presence, and the Fire Brigade and repair crews are also on site.

2. Instructions for drivers:

1. Slow down before entering the area.
2. Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
3. Close your windows and activate the air recirculation system to avoid inhaling smoke or dust.
4. Follow the instructions of the Traffic Police and signs strictly.
5. Avoid using mobile phones or other devices that could distract you.

Olympia Odos would like to thank the Operator's staff who made superhuman efforts, as well as all those who contributed to limiting the consequences and reopening the road (Fire Brigade, Police).

It also would like to thank the drivers for their understanding and invites them to comply with the relevant signage and the instructions of the Traffic Police, as well as to be patient and particularly careful when crossing the said area.
