Restoration of traffic in the area of Isthmos after the serious road accident with the tank truck

Early in the morning, Olympia Odos and the crews of the competent construction companies of APION KLEOS opened to traffic the Patras-bound branch of the Motorway in the area of Isthmos and specifically at k.p. 75+600 (in the area of Loutraki Interchange), where on Friday 07.06.2024 the serious road accident with a tank truck bursting into flames occurred.

As it is known, the high fire load caused serious structural damages to the overpass of the interchange which was then demolished and the debris were removed. Road pavement repair works (asphalt paving and marking over a length of 200m) were carried out on Sunday afternoon and throughout the night.  The traffic direction to Korinthos was opened to normal operation (3 lanes + EL) at 05.00 a.m. on Monday morning.

Fortunately, there were no casualties from this unprecedented accident. The mobilization of the Motorway Operation Company was immediate; they closed the traffic at the site of the accident and assisted the competent authorities and the Traffic Police to divert the traffic, on a weekend with increased traffic due to the European elections.
