Emergency traffic arrangements due to serious car accident with a tank truck bursting into flames in the area of Isthmos on Elefsina-Korinthos-Patras Motorway

On Friday 07.06.2024 at 21:00 p.m. there was a serious car accident with a tank truck bursting into flames at k.p. 75.6 (in the area of Loutraki junction) in the direction to Korinthos of the Elefsina-Korinthos-Patras motorway. Due to the explosions and the fire that broke out,  severe extensive damages were caused to the bridge at the junction, part of which has been subject to demolition works since early today. The following traffic arrangements are already in place in the area:

From 06:00 a.m. on Saturday 08.06.2024, closure to traffic in the direction to Korinthos, at about k.p. 75.2 with simultaneous diversion of traffic to two alternative routes:

• towards the exit of Loutraki junction, in the direction to the Corinth Isthmus, the Athens-Korinthos ONR and then re-entering the motorway via the Epidaurus I/C (k.p. 76.8);
• to the left lane of the Athens-bound branch, on which a two-way traffic arrangement is applied from k.p. 75.2 to k.p. 76.2.

Traffic towards Athens is carried out from the right lane and the EL.

On Sunday 09.06.2024 at around 12:00 noon, in order to accommodate the expected increased traffic returning from the elections, the above two-way traffic arrangement will be lifted and all lanes (3 lanes and EL) will be opened to traffic on the Athens-bound direction.

We regret the inconvenience suffered by drivers yesterday due to the necessary traffic diversions, as well as the delays caused by the necessary safety traffic arrangements throughout the duration of the works.
