Upgrade of Akrata Tunnels with LED Luminaires and re-coating

  • Traffic arrangements applied to carry out the works
  • Installation of LED luminaires
  • Re-coating using innovative photocatalytic coatings to improve the duration of the whiteness and ensure better air quality for drivers

In the context of the works for the installation of LED luminaires in the Akrata Tunnels (Τ13Α and Τ13Β) and their re-coating with innovative and new generation photocatalytic self-cleaning coatings, traffic arrangements will be applied in the area by closing only the traffic direction to Athens from Monday, April 28, 2025.  The necessary traffic arrangements will be applied in three phases as follows:

Phase A: closure of the branch to Athens

  1.      Diversion of the traffic branch to Athens to the traffic branch to Patras using the Emergency Openings located at k.p. 146.1 to k.p. 143.3 and simultaneous implementation of a two-way traffic arrangement on the traffic branch to Patras between the above-mentioned kilometric points, in accordance with the following diagram.
  2. Closure of the Akrata Interchange entrance ramp to the motorway in the direction to Athens, due to the proximity of the acceleration line with the Emergency Opening at k.p. 146.1.  The drivers in the direction from Akrata to Athens shall use the nearest Derveni Interchange (k.p. 140.4)

Phase B: Removal of the traffic diversion and alternate closure of the traffic lanes in the direction to Athens

Removal of the diversion of Phase A and alternate closure of the right and then the left traffic lanes in the direction to Athens from k.p. 146.8 to k.p. 144.6.

The traffic in the direction to Patras is not affected.

Phase C: closure of the branch to Athens

Repetition of Phase A’ to perform tests.

The required long-term signage will be in place from Monday, April 28, 2025 through Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the latest. It is estimated that it will take approximately 3.5 and 1.5 weeks to implement each of Phases A and B respectively, while phase C will take approximately 2-3 days.

Olympia Odos would like to thank the drivers for their understanding and invites them to comply with the relevant signage and the instructions of the Traffic Police, as well as to be particularly careful when crossing the said area.
