Road Safety and InfrastructureRoad Safety and Infrastructure

A large infrastructure project is not finished just upon the completion of its construction. Innovative techniques, such as the Smart Tunnel program to improve the maintenance of the Motorway, the Pavement Management Plan Tool and MIRANDA settlement monitoring tool, contribute to the prevention of dangerous incidents and accidents and ensure road safety. The company constantly invests, above and beyond its contractual obligations, in a series of extensive programs with significant and measurable results.

Smart Tunnel

Smart Tunnel: Innovation for Motorway Maintenance Strategy

The Smart Tunnel system revolutionizes motorway maintenance by integrating seamlessly into existing E/M tunnel infrastructure. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, Big Data, AI, and Machine Learning, the comprehensive solution offers real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance insights. Initially deployed and tested in the 700m "Girokomio" tunnel (Athens direction) and Patras Bypass D2 Building (substation and pumping station), the system is set to expand to the second "Girokomio" tunnel (Pyrgos direction), Agia Varvara tunnels (A3 and A4), and all Patras Bypass buildings, enhancing overall infrastructure maintenance strategies.

Pavement Management Plan Tool

The Pavement Management Plan Tool, a culmination of extensive research, is a cutting-edge software facilitating pavement quality monitoring.

It assesses operational and structural conditions, enabling the formulation of a strategic intervention plan. This comprehensive database integrates triennial inspection results, crucial measurements, and quality documents.

It empowers informed decision-making for efficiently planning maintenance campaigns.

Our Commitments

We continue to focus on heavy maintenance and on incorporating technological innovations into strategic aspects of the motorway project to ensure that the project remains well maintained by the end of the concession term.
