Olympia Odos received two Gold awards at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2021

  • Distinction for the first Hybrid distance-based tolling system in Greece
  • Second consecutive distinction in 2021 after the Mobility Awards where Olympia Odos was nominated “Motorway of the Year”

Olympia Odos received two important distinctions at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2021 that promote the values of Sustainable Business and award companies investing in Sustainable Development.  In particular, Olympia Odos received two GOLD awards in the following categories:

  • Effect on Local Communities for its innovative Hybrid tolling system, the first distance-based tolling system in Greece which offers significant benefits that offers significant benefits to the users;
  • Energy Management for the environmental programs that it has implemented at the facilities of the Motorway.

For the first time in Greece, the Hybrid system deals with the socially fair charging issue, and ensures that the users pay only for the distance they have traveled. It is a project with social benefit within the context of the commitment undertaken by the Greek Government for a fair tolling based on the distance traveled. The Hybrid System already attracts local customers/users to the motorway, while reducing the number of road accidents and decongesting the service road network.

On behalf of Olympia Odos, its CEO Mr. Panayiotis Papanikolas made the following statement:

“The awards that Olympia Odos received at the Responsible Business Awards confirms our strategic choice to focus our business decision on people and their needs.  The kilometric tolling that we first implemented in Greece thanks to the Hybrid innovative technological system is a great social investment for the Local Communities crossed by the Motorway.  It satisfies a long-standing demand of the Greeks and is a game-changer for the way the motorways operate.

Similarly, we are proud of the environmental programs we implemented at the facilities of the Motorway, thanks to which we have reached high levels of decrease of our energy and carbon footprint.

Our objective is to become an example of innovative company, with a strategic plan the core of which is to create a social impact.”

Over the last six years the Responsible Business Awards are organized by Boussias Communications, while the large Judging Committee consists of many Members-Representatives of various Institutions and Institutes, Experts in fields relevant to the awards categories, as well as Academics, headed by Mrs. Sofia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou, President of the National Chamber of the Network of Greek Women Entrepreneurs.
