Heavy Maintenance at Patras Bypass

In the context of the Heavy Maintenance of Patras Bypass ongoing since 13.10.2019, the works of the first phase for the reconstruction of 278 shaft crests in the Tunnels have been completed.

The second phase of these works concerns the replacement of the anti-skid asphalt layer in the tunnels. Due to the short width of the pavement in the tunnels and for the sake of the safety of the drivers and the worksite personnel, to carry out these works it is necessary to fully close the tunnels alternatively on both traffic directions for a few days.

In particular, between Patras K1 and Eglykada Interchanges (k.p. 205+150 - 212+600), it will be necessary to fully close each traffic direction for a whole week as follows:

  • from Monday November 4, 2019 at 01:00 a.m. to Sunday November 10, 2019 at 19:00 p.m. the traffic direction to Pyrgos will be fully closed.

During the above closure, the traffic shall use Athens-Patras NNR, and Kanelopoulou, Iroon Politechniou, Akti Dimeon, and Eleftheriou Venizelou streets, and will re-enter the Patras Bypass at Eglykada I/C.

  • from Monday November 11, 2019 at 01:00 a.m. to Sunday November 17, 2019 at 19:00 p.m. the traffic direction to Athens will be fully closed.

The traffic to Athens shall use the streets of Eleftheriou Venizelou, Akti Dimeon, Trion Navarchon, Agiou Andrea, Norman, Iroon Politechniou and Kanelopoulou and will re-enter the Korinthos-Patras NNR at Patras K1 I/C.

In the event that the works in the direction to Pyrgos would be completed earlier than scheduled, the works in the direction to Athens will immediately start.

Then will follow the third and final phase of the lifting of the shafts at their final position, which will require only short night traffic closures per traffic direction, for which newer announcements will be made.

Olympia Odos would like to thank the drivers for their understanding and invites them to comply with the relevant signage and the instructions of the Traffic Police, as well as to be particularly careful when crossing the said areas.
