The largest part of the motorway is based on the current alignment ensuring minimal environmental interference.
As works progress, Olympia Odos will gradually reduce the pollution and noise levels, as well as protect the natural water reserves and the fauna of the region.
The design of the motorway provides for the installation of noise barriers for the reduction of noise in residential areas – registered settlements located less than 200 meters from the motorway – and in all areas that have schools, hospitals and other special interest buildings.
All environmental management actions are described in detail in the relevant semi-annual and annual environmental reports compiled and published by the Environment Department of Olympia Odos S.A.
The company has developed an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the Project, in accordance with ISO Standard 14001:2004.
